Maunga friends to be called on

The Puke­ta­papa Lo­cal Board is seek­ing peo­ple to form a Friends of the Maunga group.

The board wants to work with the com­mu­nity to de­velop the res­i­dents group that will care and ad­vo­cate for the area’s two vol­canic cones – Puke­ta­papa (Mt Roskill) and Te Tatua-a-Riuk­i­uta (Big King).

It has started work­ing with res­i­dents to iden­tify cur­rent is­sues on the cones and is now aim­ing to es­tab­lish the group to fur­ther rep­re­sent com­mu­nity views re­lat­ing to the cones.

The group will work closely with the board, Ta­maki Col­lec­tive and Auck­land Coun­cil’s vol­canic cones team.

A com­mu­nity meet­ing will be on Fe­bru­ary 22, 2pm till 4pm, at the Fick­ling Cen­tre, 546 Mt Al­bert Rd.
