A charity breakfast is being held to restore livelihoods for the people effected by Cyclone Ian. The cyclone hit Tonga on January 10, bringing winds of up to 270kmh and causing almost complete destruction to the northern islands of Ha’apai. More than 2000 people have been displaced, 600 homes were destroyed and 400 damaged. On top of that, 85 per cent of the fresh water drinking supply was lost. Oxfam is hosting a corporate charity breakfast on March 20, 7am till 9am, at Beca House on Pitt St. Tickets are $50 a person plus GST. Email info@nztbc. org.nz to register.
