Prices up

The cost of spending a night in an Auckland hotel has risen by five per cent on the back of a packed events schedule. The Hotel Price Index launched this week charts the cost of staying in a hotel room in New Zealand. It shows Auckland hotels reaped the rewards of the city hosting several high profile pop artists and bands late last year, including Rihanna, Beyonce and One Direction. Those attractions saw domestic demand drive hotel prices up by five per cent to $145 on average per night. The New Zealand average rose five per cent to $152 a night.
