Auckland City clash with Wellington
This weekend is going to be a big one for Auckland City FC.
They will take on Team Wellington in the ASB Premiership grand final at Kiwitea St this Sunday after beating Waitakere United 4-1 on Saturday.
Andrew Milne swept home the opening goal after 15 minutes and Chris Bale doubled the Navy Blues’ lead later in the first half.
Emiliano Tade drove home a penalty just three minutes before halftime.
Waitakere captain Jake Butler was sent off in the shadows of the halftime whistle and Tade made it 4-0 just minutes into the second half.
United rallied and substitute Richie Cardozo netted a consolation goal 19 minutes from time.
This weekend Auckland will be looking to claim the title for the fifth time in the club’s history while Wellington will be aiming for a maiden crown.
Auckland City also maintained their incredible record in ASB National Youth League by downing Hawke’s Bay United 5-2 at Seddon Fields on Saturday.
Nicolas Zambrano scored four goals for City in the opening 35 minutes.
The young charges will take on Nelson Marlborough Falcons at Trafalgar Park on Saturday as they bid to win back-to-back titles.
