Small sculp­tures take aim at mighty prize

A pair of Mt Eden artists have been selected to com­pete for New Zealand’s only small sculp­ture prize.

The works, Money Box by Sue Collins and Paper­weight by Antony Den­sham, will be up for a $3000 award at Wai­heke Com­mu­nity Art Gallery’s 2014 Small Sculp­ture Prize.

The award is for a three­d­i­men­sional work no larger than 450 mil­lime­tres in any di­men­sion.

The se­lec­tor for the 2014 Small Sculp­ture Prize is Monique Jansen, se­nior lec­turer in Art & De­sign at AUT.

An ex­hi­bi­tion of all 28 works, selected from more than 70 sub­mis­sions, will be held from March 21 to April 14 at the Wai­heke Com­mu­nity Art Gallery.

The Small Sculp­ture Prize is the only ex­hi­bi­tion for small sculp­tures in New Zealand.
