Close shave to help others
It takes guts to go bald. But for Natalia Nu’u the loss of her locks is a show of support for those who have to show true bravery.
The Hillsborough pharmacist got the chop at the weekend, dedicating her hairless dome to her father who died in 2009. ‘‘I wanted to support Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand because of the number of people in my life who have been affected by cancer,’’ she says.
‘‘Knowing personally how cancer, of any kind, can have a profound effect on families, it seemed a great charity to help support. I dedicated my shave to my dad. I also felt like it was a way to celebrate the fighters and the survivors.’’
She says she is enjoying her new look and it is something all women should do at least once.
