Areas tipped for homes
Special Housing Areas (SHAs) are being identified across Auckland to allow fast-tracked development that will help combat the region’s housing crisis.
Only the owners of adjacent properties need to be notified and appeal rights are limited.
Applications for subdivisions in SHAs are processed within months instead of years.
This third set of SHAs brings the total to 63 special housing areas with 33,500 homes to be built across Auckland.
They have been adopted by the council but are subject to formal approval by the Cabinet and a recommendation to the Governor-General. The latest set includes: Akepiro St, Mt Eden, 18 new homes
Haverstock Rd, Sandringham, 33 new homes
Glendale Rd, Glen Eden, 12 new homes
Asquith Ave, Mt Albert, 10 new homes
Mt Albert cluster, 31 new homes
Jordan Ave, Onehunga, 202 new homes
Tuata St, One Tree Hill, 46 new homes
Mt Roskill cluster, 20 new homes
Bristol Rd, Mt Roskill, 10 new homes
Waterview cluster, 172 new homes.
