Ar­eas tipped for homes

Spe­cial Hous­ing Ar­eas (SHAs) are be­ing iden­ti­fied across Auck­land to al­low fast-tracked de­vel­op­ment that will help com­bat the re­gion’s hous­ing cri­sis.

Only the own­ers of ad­ja­cent prop­er­ties need to be no­ti­fied and ap­peal rights are limited.

Ap­pli­ca­tions for sub­di­vi­sions in SHAs are pro­cessed within months in­stead of years.

This third set of SHAs brings the to­tal to 63 spe­cial hous­ing ar­eas with 33,500 homes to be built across Auck­land.

They have been adopted by the coun­cil but are sub­ject to for­mal ap­proval by the Cab­i­net and a rec­om­men­da­tion to the Gover­nor-Gen­eral. The lat­est set in­cludes: Akepiro St, Mt Eden, 18 new homes

Haver­stock Rd, San­dring­ham, 33 new homes

Glen­dale Rd, Glen Eden, 12 new homes

Asquith Ave, Mt Al­bert, 10 new homes

Mt Al­bert clus­ter, 31 new homes

Jordan Ave, One­hunga, 202 new homes

Tu­ata St, One Tree Hill, 46 new homes

Mt Roskill clus­ter, 20 new homes

Bris­tol Rd, Mt Roskill, 10 new homes

Water­view clus­ter, 172 new homes.
