Foot­ball sup­port­ers and fans will get the chance to take part in Auck­land’s one year to go cel­e­bra­tion on May 30 at Aotea Square from noon.

The of­fi­cial 12 month count­down to the FIFA Un­der-20 World Cup will kick off 50 min­utes later and will be com­ple­mented by ticket give­aways and var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties.

A num­ber of foot­ball celebri­ties will be present and fans will get the chance to be pho­tographed with the FIFA Un­der-20 World Cup Tro­phy.

The 2015 event will be the largest foot­ball tour­na­ment ever stag- ed in New Zealand and will take place from May 30 to June 20 with 24 coun­tries par­tic­i­pat­ing.

A to­tal of 52 matches will be played in seven host cities.

The open­ing match will be played at North Har­bour Sta­dium along with the clos­ing cer­e­mony, four pool matches, a quar­ter and semi­fi­nal, the bronze medal play­off and the fi­nal.

The event is ex­pected to bring around $6 mil­lion into the Auck­land’s econ­omy and ex­pose the re­gion to a world­wide tele­vi­sion au­di­ence of 170 mil­lion in more than 100 coun­tries.
