Great place to unwind

Central Leader - - NEWS -

What do you like best about One Tree Hill?

It’s quiet, central and Cornwall Park is a national treasure. How long have you lived here and where are you originally from?

Four years. I’m an Auckland boy, born and bred. What do you like least and how can we fix it?

Auckland’s rush-hour traffic remains a worry no matter where you live. I guess the answer is to keep plugging away at improving safe, reliable public transport. Where’s the best place to buy dinner in the area?

Try Frolic Cafe in Manukau Rd. And who does the best fish and chips?

Royal Oak’s award-winning The Chip Shop. The crumbed snapper is especially good. Who is the Kiwi you admire the most and why?

Every time I walk through Cornwall Park I am reminded of the amazing generosity of spirit and foresight of John Logan Campbell. His gift to the people of Auckland, a working farm less than 10 minutes from the CBD, provides us all with a place to unwind, relax, exercise and enjoy the views. If I was Auckland’s mayor I would . . .

Put a stop to extortionate inner-city parking fees. The spot I would recommend to tourists is . . .

The summit of One Tree Hill, any West Coast beach or, further afield, take a drive out to the lighthouse on the tip of the southern Manukau Heads. When I have a few hours spare I like to . . .

Catch the latest movie during the day.

Simon: Loves walking in Cornwall Park.
