The Mt Albert Girls Grammar football team have made it six in a row.

The first XI girls have won the Auckland secondary school competition without conceding a goal. Their record makes for impressive reading.

They played 11 matches, won them all, scoring 67 goals with the goalkeeper keeping a clean sheet in all of them.

Coach Paul Marshall believes the fact the girls have been together for three years has helped.

‘‘They are an amazing team, they are more tactically astute than their opposition.’’

Three members of the team were selected for the New Zealand under-17 side that went to Costa Rica last term, and five players are members of the national under-16 team. The team have set their sights on the Knockout Cup competition before defending their title at the national championships.

Clean sheet: The championshipwinning first XI Mt Albert Grammar girls football team.
