Speed bumps

Re traf­fic calm­ing mea­sures, Cen­tral Leader, July 16.

Cit­i­zens be­ware . . . traf­fic calm­ing? Give me a break. I live in Mt Roskill and have re­cently had speed bumps in­stalled in my street.

In fact, one speed bump is right out­side my house and it drives me nuts.

Ev­ery ve­hi­cle that slows to cross it cre­ates noise by revving their en­gine and speed­ing off.

The worst are the ve­hi­cles tow­ing trail­ers that clang and clat­ter their way over the speed bump.

I was ini­tially in favour of these mea­sures but now wish they were not there. I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in the past five months.

As for ‘‘calm­ing traf­fic’’ – I think it just ir­ri­tates driv­ers to the point that they rev their en­gine be­tween speed bumps to get back up to speed or travel over it so fast the
