Save church

Central Leader - - OPINION -

I am writing to express my sorrow when reading your article about the plans to demolish St David’s Church building on Khyber Pass ( Central Leader, November 26). This building in my opinion is a prominent and integral part of our inner city history and it’s presence has great meaning to many people.

I believe that the building is a war memorial site and that there are many historical features within it.

Surely restoration rather than demolition would be the best outcome which would enable St David’s to move ahead and continue to serve the community as a multipurpose venue for a wide range of activities including church services. I hope all aspects are carefully considered and discussed before the fate of this grand building is decided.
