Spoilt for choice of eating spots

What do you love about Sandringham?

It’s just a short bus ride to work in Royal Oak and the food in the suburb and the surrounding areas is great. Always spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out.

How long have you lived in Sandringham and where are you originally from? I have lived here for about 21⁄ years now. I am originally from Mangere and I’ll always be a South Auckland boy at heart. What do you like least? The worst thing is the house prices. Just up the road from where I live, a house went for $1 million and there is no way me and my partner could afford that.

Where’s the best place to buy dinner in your area?

I am always partial to noodles from Yes Noodles on Sandringham Rd, also you cannot go wrong with Paradise for Indian. In Kingsland I am a fan of Grill and Shakes.

And who does the best fish ‘n chips?

My usual takeaway joint is Bilbo’s Takeaway on Dominion Rd.

Who

the

Kiwi

you admire most – and why?

UFC fighter Mark Hunt. He grew up in Mangere like me and made the most of his gifts to become a world renowned fighter and to support his family. He is also one of the most funny and humble guys you’ll ever meet.

If I was Auckland’s mayor I’d ...

Look at trying to fix Auckland’s public transport woes and the rising cost of housing. I would also look at holding more community-based events around the city and increase support for artists and smaller arts festivals like Chromacon.

When I’ve got a few free hours I like to ...

Draw comics. Though it’s fun, it’s still my job so my spare time is usually spent drawing.

The spot I’d recommend to tourists is ...

When it comes to overseas visitors, I usually recommend visiting the tunnels at North Head in Devonport. I love running around the tunnels in the dark. The mayor should look at trying to fix Auckland’s public transport woes and the rising cost of housing.
