Have lunch with league’s finest
Rugby league fans are being given a chance to rub shoulders with some of the victorious Kiwis who beat Australia 26-12 in the Anzac Test at Suncorp Stadium.
Players including Captain Simon Mannering, Manu Vatuvei, Shaun Johnson, Thomas Leuluai and Ben Matulino will be among those attending the Kiwis luncheon at the Ellerslie Events Centre on June 12.
The event is being organised and hosted by Sir Peter Leitch and will feature a range of guest speakers including former Warriors Coach, Kiwis Captain and NZRL Player of the Century Mark Graham who is being flown in from Australia especially for the occasion courtesy of Air New Zealand.
Other speakers will include Vodafone Warriors chief executive Jim Doyle, Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden, New Zealand rugby league chief executive Phil Holden and Warriors captain Simon Mannering, still buzzing after the Kiwis’ big win in Brisbane.
The day will feature an auction of signed jerseys and memorabilia from Sir Peter’s private collection and will also pay tribute to the 2005 Kiwis team as well as the 2015 side.
Tickets cost $100 and include a buffet lunch and complimentary drinks between 12.30pm and 3pm.
‘‘This will be a great opportunity for fans to celebrate the Anzac test win and get themselves in the right mood to cheer along the Vodafone Warriors when they play the Roosters at Mt Smart a day later,’’ Sir Peter says.
