An island full of creativity awaits visitors to the Waiheke Winter Arts Festival over Queen’s Birthday weekend.

The work of up to 50 artists will be showcased at more than 35 studios around the island, which ticket holders can visit in their own time over three days.

The self-drive festival includes work by sculptors, jewellers, ceramicists painters and photographers as well as fabric and shoe makers.

It also gives people the chance to chat with the artists and ask them about their creative process.

An exhibition featuring festival artists’ works is open daily at Waiheke Community Art Gallery, in Oneroa, where ticket holders can attend a soiree on Sunday.

‘‘The festival is a great time to experience the whole spectrum of Waiheke art,’’ festival organiser and participating artist Katie Trinkle-Legge says.
