Police are on the hunt for sticky fingered honey thieves. There have been six incidents of honey thefts in central Auckland over the past two months. Onehunga community constable Don Allan says while the number of incidents is fairly low, it is likely further thefts have been unreported. It’s likely the thefts of honey will continue as the price of honey continues to climb due to a global decline in the bee population, Allan says. Police would like to know of any suspicious sales of high quality honey. Phone police on 526 7300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you have any information.
