Sustainable cafe takes out top prize
A sustainable Mt Eden cafe has come out on top in an Auckland local board’s business awards.
Forage Cafe was made supreme winner of the first annual Albert-Eden Business Awards on May 18.
The Dominion Rd cafe also topped the hospitality category with judges commenting on the cafe’s ‘‘beautiful presentation and heart-warming community story of a sustainable business’’.
Other award winners included Farro Fresh Epsom, The Rumpus Room, Bay Audiology Mt Eden and Presentations Design & Print.
About 200 guests attended the black tie awards ceremony and dinner held at Alexandra Park.
Among guests were 48 finalists covering five categories including hospitality, retail, health and beauty, business and professional services and manufacturing and trade.
Winners were selected from public votes and mystery shoppers who visited each business in April.
Farro Fresh Epsom won the People’s Choice Award.
‘‘We’ve always been proud of the many and varied businesses of outstanding quality, innovation in our area,’’ Albert-Eden Local Board deputy chair Glenda Fryer says.
