DIGGER CRASH CHARGE
Police have charged a 65 year-old Taupo man in relation to a crash on an Auckland motorway. The man was allegedly driving a truck with a digger on the back, when it smashed into the Penrose overbridge on May 9. The man has been charged with dangerous driving and will appear in the Auckland District Court on June 7. If convicted, a dangerous driving charge carries amandatory disqualification period from driving of six months. It is also punishable by a termof imprisonment of up to three months and a possible fine of up to $4500.
