Anaru Young was told he wouldn’t reach the age of 30.

The Mt Albert resident was 24 when we was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery.

Although his health affects his ability to function, Young still has a positive outlook and love for adventure. He has been involved with the Race4Life trust for three years, which fulfils the wishes of palliative care patients.

In 2015 Young was given the opportunity to have his wish of going away with his siblings for his 30th birthday come true.

On March 22, the annual Race for

Life event was held at Hampton Downs Raceway and Young enjoyed a ride in a helicopter.
