A re­cent sur­vey shows the Green Pre­scrip­tion Ac­tive Fam­i­lies pro­gramme is de­liv­er­ing pos­i­tive re­sults. Health Min­is­ter Jonathan Cole­man says more chil­dren are see­ing the ben­e­fits of healthy eat­ing and be­ing ac­tive. ‘‘Eighty­seven per cent of par­tic­i­pat­ing fam­i­lies found they had no­ticed pos­i­tive changes, in­clud­ing their child or young per­son hav­ing more en­ergy and more con­fi­dence.’’ The pro­grammes are com­mu­nity-based ini­tia­tives de­signed to in­crease phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity in chil­dren and young peo­ple aged 5 to 18, and their fam­ily. ‘‘The life­style changes are also be­ing sus­tained over time for the ma­jor­ity of chil­dren and young peo­ple.’’
