A former senior Auckland Transport and Rodney District Council manager has pleaded guilty to corruption charges. Barrie Kenneth James George,
69, pleaded guilty at the
Auckland High Court on Wednesday to two charges of accepting bribes worth $103,580.54.
Two other charges were withdrawn. The Crown alleged the former maintenance contracts manager at Auckland Transport accepted bribes of gifts including travel vouchers, entertainment and liquor between 2005 and 2013. Convictions were entered by Justice Kit Toogood and George was remanded on bail. He will be sentenced in September.
