Boy, 12, arrested after robberies
Four young boys and a woman have been arrested following a series of aggravated robberies at an Auckland liquor store.
Liquor Legends store on Duke St in Three Kings was robbed on July 20 and 23, and again on August 30.
Police say they have charged a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and two 15-year-olds.
A woman, aged 26, was also involved and is related to three of the boys, police said.
The group has been jointly charged with aggravated robbery.
Following the latest robbery, store owner Jeff Wu said one of his staff members was allegedly hit on the head with a wooden stake.
‘‘He got a few smashes at the back of the head,’’ he says.
‘‘The back of his head opened up.’’
Wu said another staff member also received injuries to their knee and left eye.
After weeks of police investigations, a number of search warrants were carried out on Tuesday morning in Mangere, Papatoetoe, Manukau and Mt Roskill.
Detective Sergeant Neil Hilton later advised that five people had been arrested and charged.
Four of the offenders appeared on Tuesday afternoon in the Auckland Youth Court.
The 12-year-old boy appeared on Wednesday.
