The Tamaki Regeneration Company, jointly owned by the Government and Auckland Council, is spear heading a new housing development in Auckland’s eastern suburbs.
It will replace 2800 state houses with 7500 new homes over a 15 year time frame.
While 2500 of the new homes will remain as state houses, the rest will be sold as private properties.
Early stages of the develop- ment have been focussed in the Glen Innes area but the project is expected to extend into the Point England and Panmure areas.
Issues raised include population increase, impact on services and facilities, risk of rise in land value and lack of off-street parking to accommodate the growth.
