Ramblers eye top four finish in AFC
The Mt Albert Ramblers are eyeing a top four finish in the Auckland Fastpitch Championship, which gets under way on September 26.
The women’s team lost to the Western Magpies last year before the semifinals in Nelson.
A club spokesperson says preparations for the new season have been under way for a month.
She says the weather hasn’t played in their favour but they are optimistic about their chances this season especially with the U23 tournament to kickstart their buildup.
The Ramblers host a three-day U23 tournament which begins on Friday, with the finals being played on Sunday at 2pm.
Eden Roskill, Northcote, Waitakere Bears and Auckland United have all confirmed their participation in the tournament.
‘‘This weekend is a great way to showcase the talent we have in age group.
‘‘We hope to attract players from all around New Zealand in the future.
‘‘This is the second time we have run this tournament. We won last year with Roosters, jointly due to the inclement weather.’’
