The University of Auckland will receive $5 million in donations from the Li Ka Shing Foundation. The donation is for the university’s Campaign For All Our Futures programme which supports innovation and entrepreneurship, and encourages philanthropy. The Li Ka Shing Foundation wants to support the university as a hub of innovation in the Asia Pacific region through its Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and other programmes at the Business School. The Foundation, set up in 1980 by leading Hong Kong entrepreneur and philanthropist Li Ka-shing, seeks to enhance societal improvement through supporting education and healthcare initiatives. A Li Ka Shing Innovation Fund will be set up to drive teaching and research related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
