Auckland Council is encouraging people to develop better consent applications through preapplication meetings to help iron out a lot of issues and give people clarity on what information council needs in the consent application and helps them save time and money. Resource consents general manager Ian Smallburn said lots of applicants don’t provide the necessary information in consent applications, which causes delays in the processing. The council offers an initial free 15-minute meeting to ask questions about your project and what consents and permits may be required. If needed, a pre-application meeting can then be booked costing $287 for a standard proposal. More complex proposals require a $287 deposit with further costs possible.
