Auckland’s best ice cream

Here’s our list of Auckland’s best ice cream.

Central Leader - - OUT & ABOUT -

it in Italy, and now grace Auckland with their 80 original recipes. They’ve whipped up gingerbreadman and candy-cane flavours for Christmas, and say they’ll be serving a very special ‘‘real alcohol champagne’’ sorbet on new year’s day.

Giapo - City Centre

‘‘Wow decadence to the max!’’, enthused one reviewer of the Giapo experience on Tripadvisor. That pretty much sums the joint up. Ice creams here are actually edible Faberge eggs and I wouldn’t be surprised to see live hummingbirds fly out of your mouth after a first bite.

Ollies Burgers & Ice Cream -

Ollies has been serving ice cream for nigh on 43 years. Their quintessential cones need neither froth nor frippery - customers return generation after generation for generous scoops of classic flavours. Pinball machines and (what look like) giant poppies add an American-diner-decked-out-forANZAC day vibe.

The Kapiti Store - City Centre

Kapiti sells lickable companions for strolls ‘round the downtown wharves. Lemongrass and ginger, black doris with creme fraiche, spicy apple crumble, or something more familiar will see you fill a few loyalty cards this summer.
