The Iron Maori quar­ter-triathlon event is com­ing to Auck­land on April 1 with reg­is­tra­tions now open. The par­tic­i­pa­tion-fo­cused event is de­signed for any­one and par­tic­i­pants do not need to be Maori or an elite ath­lete to take part. The quar­ter event in­cludes a one-kilo­me­tre swim, 40 kilo­me­tre cy­cle and 10 kilo­me­tre run, though there are also longer walk and runs of five and 10 kilo­me­tres avail­able. There are also cat­e­gories for youth and chil­dren fea­tur­ing smaller dis­tances. Iron Maori has been run­ning in the Hawke’s Bay for the last eight years and will be held in five lo­ca­tions around New Zealand in 2017 - Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Auck­land, Wairarapa and Taupo.
