The Iron Maori quarter-triathlon event is coming to Auckland on April 1 with registrations now open. The participation-focused event is designed for anyone and participants do not need to be Maori or an elite athlete to take part. The quarter event includes a one-kilometre swim, 40 kilometre cycle and 10 kilometre run, though there are also longer walk and runs of five and 10 kilometres available. There are also categories for youth and children featuring smaller distances. Iron Maori has been running in the Hawke’s Bay for the last eight years and will be held in five locations around New Zealand in 2017 - Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Auckland, Wairarapa and Taupo. Registration details are available at www.ironmaori.com.
