Auckland’s best cocktails
Here is our list of Auckland’s best summer cocktails.
While dark skies might have you doubtful, there is still some summer left. We thought you’d appreciate some spirituous sunshine.
Hawaiian Time at Bedford Soda & Liquor - Ponsonby.
This joint is ‘‘quietly confident’’ they make some of the nicest nicest drinks that you will taste. They certainly make the prettiest - a white rum concoction called Hawaiian Time. It comes almost magically in a spherical glass that’s packed with edible flowers.
Pimm’s at La Zeppa - Freeman’s Bay.
Pimm’s made the most iconic alcohol adverts of the 1980s and still makes the best cocktail of summer. Stuffed full of mint leaves and fresh fruit, mixed with ginger ale, this is perkiest Pimm’s in Auckland.
Take MeWith You at Soul Bar & Bistro - the Viaduct.
If you think summer should be spent on a yacht with leggy linenclad, ladies - preferably docked at St Tropez, Soul Bar & Bistro might be for you. They make hibiscus liqueur for the Take MeWith You cocktail, mix it with rosemary-infused vodka, and serve it with a view.
Classic Latino specialities at Conch - Ponsonby.
The most refreshing cocktail classics hail from South and Central America and they all get perfected at Conch. Their cocktail list is short and to the point, spangled with sugar cane, cucumber, and capsicum.
Burmese Dream at Mekong Baby - Ponsonby.
Warming and citrusy lemongrass hails from a place where the summer is far more generous. Mekong Baby adds it to their Burmese Dream cocktail, alongside gin, passionfruit, basil and pineapple.
