An influx of tourists visiting Auckland’s northern beaches over summer has resulted in ferry company Fullers adding a fully-computerised boat to its Devonport service. Fullers has leased the Capricornian Surfer vessel from Australia for two years to relieve the 30-year-old Kea ferry from some of its duty, carrying more than 1000 people between Devonport and cental Auckland every day. The 35-metre-long Capricornian Surfer, worth $6 million, can carry 380 passengers and is being fitted with a new cafe and bike racks.
