Thou­sands more ap­pren­tices are needed in the build­ing sec­tor and a new cam­paign is aim­ing to at­tract fresh tal­ent. The Build­ing and Construction In­dus­try Train­ing Or­gan­i­sa­tion is launching ‘‘Not Your Av­er­age Tradie Road Trip’’ to pro­mote ca­reers in trades. Kick­ing off on April 10, the road trip will fea­ture a group of tal­ented ap­pren­tices spend­ing four weeks vis­it­ing dif­fer­ent re­gions, help­ing out com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions, char­i­ties and schools with build­ing woes. The road trip will visit Tau­ranga, New Ply­mouth andWanaka be­fore head­ing back to Auck­land. The ap­pren­tices will carry out work at lo­ca­tions in­clud­ing spa­ces for at-risk youth, a health and so­cial ser­vices provider, a surf club and schools as well as work­ing with Habi­tat for Hu­man­ity.
