Central Leader - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE - HUGH COLLINS

Kiwi music phenomenon Jordan Luck is set to belt his hits for free at the Aotea Square this weekend. The singer of The Exponents is the voice behind a range of Kiwi anthems including and will play them as the Jordan Luck Band in central Auckland on Saturday night. Luck said after a career spanning several decades, it’s the live performance element that still keeps him buzzing. ‘‘Playing live, that’s what really got me into being in a band on reflection and that hasn’t changed at all,’’ Luck said. The Jordan Luck band will perform the free Aotea Square gig to mark the beginning of the Civic Do This To Me Why Does Love Quarter, an inner-city development set to become an important hospitality centre. It is part of a wider development which will transform the 18-storey former Auckland Council tower known as the Civic Administration Building into apartments. Property developers Josephine and John Love of Love & Co are behind the project, set to be finished in 2020. Josephine Love said having luck play would create hype for the Civic Quarter. ‘‘We want this to be this cultural centre but we can’t finish this in four years time and expect people just to show up.’’ The Jordan Luck Band will perform with Ricky Ball from Hello Sailor from 5pm.
