The pub­lic can ex­pect bet­ter maintenance of lo­cal parks, build­ings and open spa­ces, Auck­land Coun­cil says. Each of the coun­cil’s cur­rent maintenance con­tracts ex­pires on June 30 this year. This has given the coun­cil the op­por­tu­nity to iden­tify in­no­va­tive sup­pli­ers that could pro­vide value for money and bet­ter lo­cal ser­vices for Auck­land. A pro­cure­ment process would in­clude pro­vi­sions on stan­dar­d­is­ing ser­vice lev­els across Auck­land, in­tro­duced key per­for­mance in­di­ca­tors to en­sure con­sis­tent, high qual­ity de­liv­ery, and ask­ing sup­pli­ers to com­mit to their com­mu­ni­ties by us­ing lo­cal staff, of­fices and de­pots wher­ever pos­si­ble. The three types of con­tracts awarded were full fa­cil­i­ties, ar­bori­cul­ture and eco­log­i­cal restora­tion.
