The public can expect better maintenance of local parks, buildings and open spaces, Auckland Council says. Each of the council’s current maintenance contracts expires on June 30 this year. This has given the council the opportunity to identify innovative suppliers that could provide value for money and better local services for Auckland. A procurement process would include provisions on standardising service levels across Auckland, introduced key performance indicators to ensure consistent, high quality delivery, and asking suppliers to commit to their communities by using local staff, offices and depots wherever possible. The three types of contracts awarded were full facilities, arboriculture and ecological restoration.
