GOOD IN THE HOOD
Central Aucklanders can help address needs in the community by voting in a campaign. Z Energy’s Good in the Hood initiative is a community funding programme that awards more than $1 million every year to about 800 groups doing good for people or the environment. Four groups are chosen per Z service station and will share a $4000 prize between them. The needs identified by local groups range from helping children in schools to helping victims of domestic violence. This year all groups were required to have a local representative in central Auckland resulting in more small groups being able to access the funding. The public determines what percentage of the funding goes towards each group by voting with an orange token each time they shop at Z in May.
