INNOVATION HUB GROWS
Auckland’s innovation precinct in Wynyard Quarter is growing with more buildings in the area to be occupied by innovators, entrepreneurs and businesses. From September, council backed innovation hub GridAKL will occupy two new buildings. Mayor Phil Goff said the expansion of GridAKL was important in driving the growth of the region’s technology sector, which added 9000 jobs in the last five years. He said the goal was to be recognised as an innovation hub in the Asia-Pacific region and encourage high-tech industries into the city, creating employment opportunities.
