Podcast for young pros

A young Auckland professional has kick-started his podcast career with a very impressive first guest.

On Monday Auckland Young Professionals (AYP) president and Greenlane resident Ed McKnight, 25, launches a podcast called The New Zealand Young Professionals Podcast, aimed to help young professionals.

His very first guest will be Prime Minister Bill English. He’s also interviewed Labour leader Andrew Little.

McKnight said he was inspired to record a podcast asking political leaders questions about their policies.

He said he would ask his guests what their top three priorities were, and how they would impact New Zealand’s young professionals.

McKnight said he spoke with some minor party leaders before contacting the New Zealand Young Nationals, the youth wing of the New Zealand National Party, which helped put him in touch with people who helped him set up an interview with English.

The podcast had a young professionals focus but was not strictly political, McKnight said.

AYP is an organisation designed to help people in the first 15 years of their career meet like-minded individuals and develop their skills and networks. McKnight joined the AYP committee in 2015 and in June became the president.
