Schools, sports clubs and community groups around Mt Wellington and Panmure are now safer places, after the donation of 15 defibrillators (AEDs). The AEDs were donated by the Mt Wellington Charitable Trust and supplied by St John. One AED recipient was the Auckland Society of Model Engineers (ASME), which runs miniature train rides at Peterson Reserve, next to the Panmure Basin. ASME vice president Greville Wills said it was reassuring to have an AED on-site. ’’You never know what might happen, we have many members and customers, so it’s good to know we can respond quickly in the event of a cardiac arrest,’’ Wills said.
