Pop­u­lar day out in Cen­tral Otago

Fil­lies, frocks, food and fun will all come to­gether at the pop­u­lar Christ­mas at the Races, in Cromwell, on Sun­day, Novem­ber 28.

All things good about Cen­tral Otago will be part of the day, as qual­ity wine, re­gional pro­duce and lo­cal mu­sic are all cel­e­brated.

Whether you’re an avid fol­lower of the horses or just want a day out in Cromwell, there’ll be some­thing to please ev­ery­one at the an­nual Gal­lop South event, which con­tin­ues to go from strength to strength.

Gates open from 10.30am, with the first of the ten races un­der­way at 12pm and the fea­ture races - the AWS Le­gal Queen­stown Cup and the Lin­dauer Wanaka Cup - to be held later in the day.

A crowd of be­tween 5000 and 6000 is ex­pected, as lo­cals and vis­i­tors con­verge on the Cromwell Race­course to en­joy a day out with their fam­ily or with their work­mates as part of their Christ­mas work func­tion.

The pop­u­lar mar­quees are once again prov­ing to be a hit, with about 50 al­ready sold. There are still a limited num­ber or mar­quees avail­able, with pack­ages start­ing
