Stomping out child abuse in the Southern Lakes and Central Otago Districts
Maria Hendry, Barnardos Child Advocate
To educate as many people as possible in each community on how to identify and deal with suspected cases of child abuse. Family violence covers all aspects, including emotional abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse and physical abuse. Examples of violence include intimidation, harassment, damage to property, or threats of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. A child can be psychologically abused if the violent person causes or allows the child to see or hear the physical, sexual, and psychological abuse of a person with whom the child has a domestic relationship.
