More needed

Central Otago Mirror - - NEWS -

I completely agree with Mr Ross’ comments about the need for more security cameras along the main street. Although I am not a business owner, I frequently walk along the main street early on a Sunday morning as I take my dog for a walk. The state of the street some mornings is appalling, with rubbish, bottles and sometimes even vomit visible on the street. Not a good look for Alexandra, although I must admit, it seems to get cleaned up pretty quickly (by the business owners themselves I suspect). While I hope the burglaries were a oneoff incident, I believe cameras would be useful in trying to stamp out other antisocial behaviour which seems to go on after a night out drinking by some people. A camera around the pie cart and museum area would also be useful as I’ve noticed damage on the museum signs and what looks like urine stains on the sculpture located near the roundabout. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the brand new tennis courts prove to be a temptation for would-be vandals.

So yes, let’s get some more cameras installed and stamp out this disgusting behaviour once and for all.
