Sophie Newbold, from Gibbston, is one of the faces behind this year’s Cure Kids’ Red Nose Day appeal. She has a rare disease called CFC syndrome which affects her heart, bones and growth. * Red Nose Day was created by Comic Relief in the United Kingdom in 1988. In New Zealand, the first Red Nose Day was launched in 1989. * was a single released in 1992 by Hammond Gamble and The Red Nose Gang. The song hit number one in 1992 and again in 1993. It was the only song in New Zealand to ever hit number one twice in separate years.
* The last Red Nose Day in New Zealand was in 2010, with the previous year being 1997.
