So­phie New­bold, from Gibb­ston, is one of the faces be­hind this year’s Cure Kids’ Red Nose Day ap­peal. She has a rare disease called CFC syn­drome which af­fects her heart, bones and growth. * Red Nose Day was cre­ated by Comic Re­lief in the United King­dom in 1988. In New Zealand, the first Red Nose Day was launched in 1989. * was a sin­gle re­leased in 1992 by Hammond Gam­ble and The Red Nose Gang. The song hit num­ber one in 1992 and again in 1993. It was the only song in New Zealand to ever hit num­ber one twice in sep­a­rate years.
