2011 is the McArthur & Symons Autospectacular, this year it is held at the Dunedin Edgar Centre on October 1.
There are special displays marking 100 years of Chevrolet and 50 years of E Type Jaguar. The event is organised by Otago Classic Motoring Club, Otago Falcon & Fairlane Club and North Otago VCC. Each year a percentage of the profit goes to charity, this year it’s the Sophie Elliott Foundation.
This event attracts up to 60 displays, more than 25 trade sites and over 30 swap sites. There will also be a display of cars, trucks, motorcycles, racing cars, stock cars, street cars, model cars and vintage machinery. The Dunedin Road Safety Partners will again conduct their hugely popular crash response demonstrations.
The Fire Service will also promote safety with fire extinguisher workshops and vehicles, including practical demonstrations on Wormald’s blazing trailer. The Auto Olympics will be running throughout the day, this is a free family oriented activity.
Admission into the event is adults $10, 5-13 years $2, under 5 free, family pass for 2 adults and 2 children is $20. Doors open at 9am and there is a $1000 travel voucher door prize. Visit www.otagoclassicmotoring.co.nz for more information.
