The Dis­abil­ity In­for­ma­tion Ser­vice Otago ex­ists to pro­vide free in­for­ma­tion on dis­abil­ity and health re­lated is­sues to all mem­bers of the com­mu­nity. We are an in­de­pen­dent ser­vice that aims to; In­crease com­mu­nity aware­ness and un­der­stand­ing of dis­abil­ity and health re­lated is­sues; Pro­vide ac­ces­si­ble in­for­ma­tion to all mem­bers of the com­mu­nity; Main­tain a ser­vice that pro­vides the op­por­tu­nity for all in­di­vid­u­als to make in­formed choices. We do this by pro­vid­ing; In­for­ma­tion on dis­abil­ity and health re­lated is­sues; Free in­ter­net to ac­cess www.weka.net.nz; Di­rec­tory of health and dis­abil­ity re­lated groups in Otago; Ac­ces­si­ble accommodation guide; Ac­ces­si­ble Eater­ies; Ac­ces­si­ble Shop­ping Guide; Fund­view; Quar­terly news­let­ter and fort­nightly up-dates, these are sent out to over 600 in­di­vid­u­als, or­gan­i­sa­tions and providers. We also sell daily liv­ing aids and in­con­ti­nence prod­ucts. Our ser­vice is for ev­ery­one; peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties, fam­ily and friends, car­ers, trades peo­ple, field­work­ers, young peo­ple, older peo­ple, ter­tiary stu­dents and many more.
