The right size for your family

Central Otago Mirror - - FRONT PAGE -

When building a new house, you usually have an idea about how many rooms, particularly bedrooms, you want in your home.

We all dream about building a huge mansion on a large piece of land but in reality you must decide what suits your family and budget best.

Quantity does not necessarily mean quality and bigger is not always better.

Extra rooms require extra overheads such as lighting and heating and have to be decorated and furnished.

Space that is used in building your home may mean that your garden is sacrificed in the process.

It is important to plan for the future, particularly if you want to start a family.

This will dictate how many bedrooms you build in your home and how big the individual rooms are.

Plan your house so that in time, if you need to extend another room to it, the option is there for you to consider.

If your family has grown up and have moved away, building a big new home seems like a waste and only increases your daily chores looking after it.
