As March 17 approaches once again, Padd’s Day emerges from the Peat bog mists of ole Ireland. It is indeed the day all Paddies and their descendants, green or orange, celebrate the memory of Saint Patrick – Patron Saint of All Ireland. Once again there will be celebrations in the Sligo Street Hall at 7.30pm – only a gold coin at the door. There will be Irish music and entertainment, starting with the Cromwell/alexandra Pipers and Drummers. Then Cromwell’s own Martin Chaney and ensemble, to follow – The professional ‘All Male Choir’ from Alexandra with a great selection of traditional Irish songs. We have now established The Celtic Society of Cromwell with aims to observe St Andrews Day on November 30 and St Patricks Day on March 17. Cromwell District Community Arts Council – practical support is much appreciated. Surplus funds conjured up by the Leprechauns on the night, will be spirited to the Relay for Life Cancer appeal.
