Imagine this, Wendy is at work and the snow has started to fall. It’s getting heavier by the minute and she considers that she should leave work now to go home as she has snow chains but they haven’t been fitted for over a year. Wendy is driving home and the snow is now falling heavily. She has just got off the phone from her husband as she is worried about making it home. The traffic is driving at 10km/h, 40 minutes have passed and she still isn’t home, then disaster, there is a car crash somewhere in front of her. Wendy pulls over to fit her chains, it takes over 20 minutes to fit them and they are a little loose. Wendy is concerned but there’s no choice, she has to get home and they are all she’s got. Wendy sets off feeling thankful that she at least has her chains even though they are loose. Then disaster strikes. The left hand chain comes loose and starts hitting the guards. Wendy can’t stop for 200 metres then all of a sudden the chain comes off, rips out her brake lines and smashes off the guard completely. Wendy’s car will be off the road now for at least three weeks to get parts and fixed in the middle of winter. ‘‘Why didn’t I stay at home this morning?’’ she asks herself. What Wendy should have been asking is ‘‘why didn’t I buy those autosocks from QT Rides when I had the chance last week?’’
