New face in town takes over station
Cromwell police station’s new officer in charge Sergeant Simon Paget has started his new job at the station. Mr Paget, who has replaced Sergeant Mike Williams after he retired from the job last year, had his first day in charge on Monday. Central Otago sub area commander Ian Kerrisk welcomed Mr Paget to the team and said he was confident his skills would keep crime rates down. Mr Paget moved to Cromwell after working in the Bay of Plenty for 10 years. His past experience includes working in the Tactical Crime Unit targeting drug and dishonesty offending, the Traffic Alcohol Group and as a custody supervisor in Rotorua’s 53-bed remand facility. Before moving to Cromwell he was a patrol group sergeant in an emergency response position. He is joined in Cromwell by his wife Janine and their two sons, aged 14 and 3.
