Tai chi may be answer to injury prevention

Central Otago Mirror - - LAKES DISTRICT SPORT -

Acupuncturists Johan Hausen and Daniel Judd hope to prevent injuries by offering therapeutic tai chi classes in Queenstown and Cromwell for people of all ages and abilities. Based at Queenstown and Cromwell Health, they see a number of patients who could prevent injuries by taking better care of themselves, and believe tai chi is the answer. ‘‘In China they say prevention is the highest medicine. If you start digging a well when you are thirsty it’s too late,’’ Hausen said. Classes will be held in the Queenstown Gardens on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7am and can be attended for a donation. Cromwell classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6.30pm. For more details contact Queenstown Health 442 8190, Cromwell Health 445 3222 or Hausen directly on 021 0236 1275.
