Wedding a winner
New building leases
Chinese actress and social media phenomenon Yao Chen’s wedding in Queenstown dramatically attracted visitors to the resort. Destination Queenstown chief executive Graham Budd told councillors yesterday that Queenstown was portrayed as the ultimate destination for weddings and honeymoons in Chinese coverage. Tourism New Zealand monitored 6900 stories about the wedding in Chinese media, the equivalent of an advertising campaign in the tens of millions of dollars. Tenants of a new 900sq m building at the entrance to Remarkables Park have been announced. They are Bay Audiology, Bettys Liquorstores, 2 Cheap and D-Fine Me Hair and Beauty. The tenants will take up 80 per cent of the building. The building is scheduled for completion at the end of April. The general manager for the retail arm of owners DNZ said annual centre sales at Remarkables Park were up 7 per cent on the previous year.
