Make a nomination for the 2013 Central Otago Awards
The time has come to celebrate those who make a difference with entries open for the 2013 Central Otago Awards. The Central Otago Awards are presented to businesses and individuals who exemplify a commitment to making a differ- ence in the region. Categories include business excellence, tourism, community service, apprentice and youth. Central Otago District Council brand manager Shirley Howden said the awards, now presented every two years, were about ‘‘honouring people who are committed to actively integrating our regional values into their everyday lives’’. ‘‘It is also about showcasing and honouring excellence, innovation, big hearts and the amazing contribution many are making to Central Otago,’’ she said. Ms Howden encouraged the community to start thinking about how they can get involved by either nominating someone (for the community-oriented sections) or ‘‘shoulder-tapping’’ someone they think should be entering the tourism or business categories. For tourism operators and businesses the awards application process offers ‘‘a great opportunity to strategically review and critique their business and its values’’. The guest speaker at the awards ceremony in Roxburgh on September 13 will be New Zealand Breakers basketball team general manager Richard Clarke. Entry forms are available from the World of Difference website and close on June 4 .
